One of the world's major astronomical research facilities located seventeen miles north of Fort Davis on Hwy 118, the University of Texas McDonald Observatory offers extensive public programs that include guided tours, daily solar viewing, and "Star Parties" on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday nights.
